As the June primary for California is just around the corner, you may be interested in CCFT, CFT, and AFT candidate endorsements. But who is the most education friendly candidate for President? AFT has endorsed Hilary Clinton but CFT has made no endorsement, perhaps waiting it out until the California primary is over. It seems sure however, that CFT will not endorse Donald Trump. As a recent article from Higher Ed attests, Trump would seek to limit student aid for liberal arts majors due to their supposed lower income earning potential.
CCFT has only one endorsement thus far: Dawn Ortiz-Legg for State Assembly.
Ms. Ortiz-Legg graciously attended CCFT’s COR meeting on April 28, and answered both prepared questions from CFT and questions from the COR members. She is running as a Democrat. Her motto is “Working Together. Creating Jobs.” She is on the Board of the Cuesta College Sustainability Center in the North County.
Stay tuned however for CCFT endorsements to our BOT (Board of Trustees).
CFT (California Federation of Teachers has a slate of endorsements, but none for President. From our area, CFT endorses:
US Senate: Kamala Harris
US Congress: Salud Carbajal
State Senate: Bill Monning
State Assembly: Dawn Ortiz-Legg
